Keith Whyte Waterfront Ultra Marathon III
The 100K course will start and finish in the picturesque fishing village of Courtmacsherry , West Cork. Courtmacsherry and its surroundings are steeped in history so do set aside time to stay and look around. Patrick Keohane ,The Antarctic explorer came from here and a statue has been erected in his honour.
The 100K course is a fast ,relatively flat ,looped course around Courtmacsherry bay where the sea is always by your side. There is only one climb at The Pink Elephant restaurant at approx 8 miles and a turnaround point at 9 miles ,returning around the bay ,passing Coolmaine beach heading towards Timoleague Abbey and returning through the lengthy village all the way to Courtmacsherry beach and hotel where turnaround point is and also start and finish.
Once you come back to the village of Courtmacsherry, passing the church on your right, keep an eye out for the Lifeboat house and rescue centre and lifeboat out at sea on your left which has saved many lives over the last 70 years in Courtmacsherry and its surroundings.
